Expandable Graphite

Expandable graphite is a synthesized intercalation compound of graphite that expands or exfoliates when heated. Upon heating, it increases in volume by up to 400 times, reduces bulk density, and achieves approximately a tenfold increase in surface area. It is then compressed into a highly cohesive, flexible sheet. A key application of expandable graphite is as a flame retardant. When exposed to the heat of a fire, the graphite expands and forms an intumescent layer on the material's surface. This layer slows the spread of fire and reduces one of the most harmful effects of combustion: the generation of toxic gases and fumes.
Benefits of expandable graphite as flame retardant:
- Forms an intumescent layer with thermal radiation shielding and
- excellent heat diffusion.
- Prevents or slows the spread of fire and toxic gases.
- Easy to apply, cost-effective, and delivers reliable performance even at low additive levels.
- Non-toxic, non-halogenated fire-stop additive
- Neutral surface pH, ensuring compatibility with any catalyst system.
Our Expandable Graphite is the right solution for:
- Graphite Foil, Sheet,Roll, Gaskets;
- Fire Retardant;
- Conductive Additive.
